Thanks so much for this site! This is Bobby and Cindy Zandi. We have Kameron in 4th and Zachary in Pre-k. We have been in Baton Rouge with my parents since the storm hit. The kids are now enrolled in Our Lady of Mercy in Baton Rouge and will begin next week. We are still not sure as to what our exact game plan is since our business was in downtown New Orleans. We would love to know what other SCS families are in Baton Rouge. Kameron would also love to hear from his friends, wherever they might be. Our email is czandi@cox.net. Please contact us and let us know how you are. Lots of love and luck to all.
This is Todd and Shirley Engelhardt. Parents of Alex (8th) and Hillary (6th). We are in Baton Rouge staying with family. We have not seen our home yet, but we are hopeful that it is fine. Alex and Hillary are going to be enrolled in a Catholic school here on Tuesday morning. We will return to Metairie as soon as possible. We wish everyone the best.
The Lousteau family (Emily 4C) is currently in Bossier City LA. We have been spending time in Natchitoches LA with family, Actually 41 people in one house in a large log cabin. To be honest with the support of family and friends we would not have made it this far. Our neighbor did return to our house and we were told we have a little roof damage but nothing serious. At times it gets depressing knowing we will not be able to return home any time soon, but just looking at all the unfortunate people on the TV reminds us of just how fortunate we are. Life may never be the same but we , the St. Christopher Family, will survive. We hope and pray that we will be able to return home before Christmas. What a present that would be! God bless all.
Lousteau Family would love to hear from SCS family.

Hi everyone,
This is Tricia Weber. I teach 2nd grade at SCS. I am in Alexandria with my husband, daughter, mother (Angie Berzas), sister and brother-in-law (Cindy and Scott Foremaster), their daughters (Emma - K, and Mia), my other sister Jennifer and her husband. We stayed with friends for a while and are now staying at a church retreat center. Some relatives visited their house on Richland Ave. and said their was no water damage. Everything I've heard about the St. Christopher neighborhood sounds good, as far as water damage goes. Please send any info you may have about the Jefferson area (around Dodge Ave.) or Edenborn Ave. near the canal. I hope everyone is OK. I'm constantly praying for my students and the faculty.
Hi, this is Ms. Becky Bailey we are safe in Arlington, Texas. Caitlin in 3B and Lauren in D are missing their friends very much. We are here with family and plan to stay here until further notice. Hopefully my husband will head to Baton Rouge soon to get back to work. I will homeschool my girls till we can get back to SCS. Our house is in good shape from what we understand. We are grateful for that. I will keep everyone in our prayers and hope to be toghether again soon. God bless!!! Email me at SMT222@cox.net

Thanks to the Santoras for keeping us informed about our SCS family. I have been able to keep in touch by phone with Mrs. Meche and Mr. Carlisle and many other of the faculty. We are all trying to wait out the necessary time before we can return to our homes.
My daughter and I are in Houston and have moved to 3 different hotels to date. ogsibley@yahoo.com
Great news, SCS!!! I was able to get into Metairie today. I spent most of the afternoon driving the area from Causeway to Clearview, West Metairie to Airline, as well as Veterans from Clearview to the 17th Street Canal. I prepared myself to see total devastation, as reported on the news - "a war zone." I was so very grateful not to see that....it looked just like a hurricane hit our area. There were many power lines and trees down, but I hardly saw "total devastation" as I expected. I was also prepared for the "horrible smells". The only rotten smell was the 20 pounds of shrimp I had to clean out of my freezer!!! Outside was fresh...a bit warm, but fresh.
I did go into St. Christopher School and am thrilled to report we are in great shape!! With only a little water to mop up, the school looks almost exactly like we left it last Friday afternoon.
The fourth grade classrooms on the north side of the building have a very little bit of water in them. The windows were blown open (not blown out, just open). Water and leaves were blown into the classroom.
Mr. Jacob's room has a little water puddling on the floor as well as at the end of the fourth grade hallway. I suspect water blew in under the door by the back stair well. The window in the stairwell between the fourth grade hallway and the middle school hallway also blew open. There are leaves and a water puddle - but the Mary statue is standing on the pedestal right where she belongs.
All of the water will take about 45 minutes to mop up!!
The EEC looked fine. There were trees down....I think one may have fallen on the fence. All of the windows and the structure of the building "looked" fine as far as I could tell.
The large tree in Father's yard split in two, but did not fall on the rectory.
I spoke with Mrs. Meche and filled her in on the school. She asked me to PLEASE tell all of our parents that as soon as we have water and electricity, we will immediately be up and running! She is ready to get back in the classrooms as soon as we get the go-ahead.
We eagerly look forward to a meeting of Archdiocesan personnel in Baton Rouge on Wednesday. They are supposed to tell us their plans for the remainder of the school year.
Please feel free to email me at deeree98@yahoo.com if you have any specific questions about what I saw today.
God bless all of you.....we can't wait to get you all back home to SCS!
Ms. Reese
Hi everyone,
This is Courtney Mitchell's (8B)mom, Debbie. Courtney, her grandmother (NaNa) and I are staying with family in West Virginia. We just arrived late Friday afternoon from Palestine, TX where we were staying in a hotel. On Tuesday we will visit a public school (lucky for the people here, public schools are better than LA). We'll also visit a Catholic school a few minutes away from where we are staying. We'll keep everyone in our prayers and thanks to the Santoras for helping the SCS family to stay linked together.
Courtney's email is princessdance@cox.net. My email is debbiepizzolato@cox.net

Hi, This is the Kelly family ( Meghan 7th, Michael graduate 9th@Rummel). It's great to hear from so many of the wonderful SCS families. Richard thank you for this site. Devon, thank you for the first truely good news I've heard. We are in Kingwood (Houston) Texas, at Jim's sister's home. He has two sisters here, so we are blessed with the support of his family. We have currently not enrolled the kids in school. We are looking at our options. We have heard from many scs families and actually ran into Elvira and Joe Benigo at mass here. It was great to see them. Rummel has a web site up and running and they report that Entergy is based out of there school. Lisa Lendermon contaced me last Thursday on her way to Reserve to work for entergy. Jim's sister's father-in-law went into Metairie yesterday and was able to enter our home. We have so much to be thankful for, no damage at all with the exception of the freezer leaking. I pray that all of our SCS families can return with such great news. We are keeping everyone in our prayers. We can be reached by cell (504) 650-1909 and (504 650-8572 or e-mail kelljim@yahoo.com. Take care and may God continue to bless us all.

Hello to everyone at SCS. My name is Sherice Boudreaux mother of Samantha Boudreaux (Sami)(PreK 3D)we are all fine here, we are staying in Birmingham, AL at this time. I work for Southwest Airlines and waiting to here where I will be relocated until the airport reopens. My husband is going to return to LA on Tuesday because his work is up and running in Lockport, LA. He has family there, so he will live there until we can return home. He had stayed during the storm and we had a tree fall on our house, and we live 3 blocks from SCS and says the school had minimal damage. There are no schools here in BHM that have Pre-K 3, so my future sister in law will care for Sami until we can return home for good. Those of you who may read this, my nephew is RJ Beecher 2nd grader at SCS. He is fine, and in Houston with his mom Lollie Beecher. She also works for Southwest and waiting for relocation. I believe he is also being enrolled in school over there. To everyone, please take care and be safe.

Hello everyone, this is Chantel, Victoria Mehrtens mom 2C. We are lucky enough to be staying with family friends in Lafayette. Victoria started on Friday at a local Catholic school. They welcomed us with open arms. She has two new friends but ask daily about her old ones from SCS. On Saturday we were able to return home and gather a few more things. The Jefferson Parkway subdivision, across the train tracks, looked fine with the exception of trees down everywhere. No water was in our house. For the Gervais family, the house looked fine from down the street. Victoria is eager to hear from Kaitlin, Linda, and Jenna. Please email or call my cell 504-235-2347 or ctmertz@cox.net.
I have been in contact with the Kratzberg family and they are all okay. Holly and Kirk have enrolled the boys, Christian (PREK 3)and Kyle (3rd), in a Catholic school in Houston.

Hello,
Has anyone heard from Father Ken Harney? My father (John Kurjan) was on his way out to visit me and stayed at the rectory on Friday before Katrina hit--we have not been able to track down Father Ken since then. Father Ken has been a close friend of my family for 35 plus years. Any info would be appreciated. You can contact me at jmkurjan@aol.com.
Thank you,
Joanne Kurjan

Hey, Everyone!!
This is Ms Adams. Great hearing from you and finding out that most of you did okay. (Let's keep praying for those poor, poor people who were not so fortunate.)Thanks, Jennifer and Richard for setting this up.
We evacuated to Pearland, TX (just outside of Houston) and stayed with friends for a week. As soon as St.Charles Parish allowed its residents back in, we went back and checked on the house. . . a big yard mess, but no damage and best of all NO WATER IN OUR HOME! We are now in Denham Springs, staying with friends. Thank God for great friends who opened their hearts and homes to us. Shelby is not enrolled in school because as soon as electricity is on, we're going back home. It shouldn't be long. Parts of our area have power, parts don't. Anyway, take care of yourselves and God Bless. I'm looking forward to getting back to school.
Cindy, John and Shelby
Hi, this is Ms Sibley again and I just talked to Mrs. Meche - she is fine but does not have access to internet at this time. She would like to find out where our teachers are located so if you are an SCS teacher please send me an email at ogsibley@yahoo.com or if you know where one of our teachers are and that they do not have internet access, could you please let me know.
Thanks and keep safe, Opal Sibley
Dear SCS family,
This is Beverly Dorvin (Mrs. Dorvin 1C). Thanks to the Santora family for creating this site. Also thanks, Devonne Reese for the update on the school. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I miss my students, but I know that they are all safe with their families.
My family and I are in Ponchatoula, LA. We are staying with my parents. We rode out the storm here and did fine. We lost power for about four days, lost some trees and there was some minor roof damage. I went to see my house in Metairie on Sunday. We had flooding and some minor wind damage to our roof, gutters and our fence was knocked down. My two sons started high school at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond, LA today. My daughter Sarah(4B)will be going to St. Joseph in Ponchatoula. Hopefully, she will start on Thursday. Everybody here has been wonderful.
I would love to hear from any SCS faculty, parents, or students.
My e-mail address is BevDorvin@bellsouth.net
Opal, please let Mrs. Meche know where I am. My phone number is (985)386-8500.
God bless you!
I am Christie Poussard, mother to Jude Foret, Jr. (8B) and Dustin Foret (3C). I am anxious to find out when SCS will be up and running. Their dad and I are putting off them going to school because it sounds like SCS can be up and running sooner than most other parishes. If anyone finds out when SCS will re-open please email me at clpoussard@cox.net. My cell phone is 504-220-8978. I am at the Best Western Reliant right outside of the Astrodome in Houston, TX at 713-799-2436 room 133. Thanks so much for any info.
Maci (5th) Brandon (2nd) and I were in Texarkana and have relocated to Gonzales. Currently we are staying with my Aunt, but we will be moving our travel trailer to a near by park and living there. Since Craig is with the Sherriff's Office he had to stay behind. It has been very difficult and scary at times, but he is doing ok now. He slept in his car for the first 3 days, but now he is staying with a friend in Metaire. He has a generator and has been able to provide Criag with food and shelter. After several days of 12-13 hour shifts, he will be off this Fri. and Sat. and we will be able to reuinte with him. Our house is one of only 3 in our neighborhood that did not flood. Although our garage and cars flooded, we still feel lucky. Wendy Bertucci (1st grade teacher) and Kelly & Merrick Matherne do live on our street and unfortunately they did get about 18 inches in their house. The local Catholic school did not have room for the kids, but I will start home schooling if necessary. Hopefully we will be able to return to St. Christopher soon.
This is Stacey Jacob mother of Megan (6th grade) and Danielle (2nd grade). We are all safe and sound staying with family in McComb, MS. The girls are troopers but starting to getting go a little stir crazy. We were without power and water for about a week. I did get @ 5-6 inches of water in my house in Kenner and my camp in Bay St. Louis is destroyed. The camp is a good 11 feet in the air and the water was above the roof line. Even with the damage we incurred we feel blessed that all our family and friends are safe. I have not done anything with the girls yet for school because I wanted to wait and see what happens at the meeting in B.R. today. If anyone need to contact me they can email me at snappyjacob@yahoo.com or call me on my cell at 504-915-0075 or 601-684-6430. I hope to see everyone real soon back at SCS. We are ready to get back to as normal of a life as possible.
Thanks - Stacey
Hi to everyone from SCS and glad to hear everyone is safe. I am back in Metairie and the school does not look it took on too much damage. I am hoping to the kids can get back in soon, I have power and it is up to david dr heading towards the school. I am staying here at home until we get more info. My prayers are with everyone and keep safe.

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MECHE
Greetings to all of our St. Christopher families! Hopefully, each of you have secured a safe haven during our "tempoary living" of our lives as we knew them before Katrina. One major adjustment I face is life without the internet; thus, I am grateful to Ms. Reese for posting this message to you.
For the past two days, we have been involved in meetings in Baton Rouge with the Archdiocese staff from the Office of Catholic Schools. I have informed them that St. Christopher School is READY to open its doors as soon as we get electricity and water! Thanks to God, the school only had a few puddles of water from the rain through the windows.
Our superintendent, Fr. Maestri, is encouraging you to be patient, not to enroll your children in another school since we feel SCS will be open in a relatively short period of time!
The State Department of Education is working with us to reconstruct the number of days required so I don't see a monumental problem of our getting the required days even if we don't open for another 30 days. By streamlining holidays, possibly extending the day for another 30 minutes - these are just two of the many things that we can do!
The important thing is that we keep hope! Life will return as we once knew it! Please be assured of our continued prayers as we experience our recovery!
Mrs. Meche
Richard Santora....
please email me at deeree98@yahoo.com
I need a number to reach you so that I can post a message on the SCS site from Mrs. Meche.
Thanks.
Devonne Reese
Thanks to the Santoras for this site. This is Laine, Derek Nordin's (KA) mom. Derek and I are in Maryland staying with my sister. He is attending a public school here where his two cousins attend. My husband stayed in Baton Rouge with my cousin and twenty others in one house. He'll be able to work from Baton Rouge. We're eager to return to Metairie and to our lives, if possible. Derek misses his school and his friends. Good luck all.
Hello everyone. This is the Shields family. Tracy, Billy, Victoria (1-C), and Rebecca have "moved" to Beaumont, TX. We miss SCS; however, we have enrolled her in St. Anne Catholic School until we can come back home. She likes it and is even learning Spainish! We are both working in Beaumont now until Jefferson Parish is open. Good luck to you all.
Hi This is Geri Ehle. We are in Destin. Katie is already enrolled in school here but will be going back as soon as SCS is open and there is a community to live in. Our house is fine. Cant wait to be back home. Everyone be safe. Love, Geri
ehleIII@aol.com
Thanks Richard for this blog - glad you and Jennifer and the girls are well. It is great to be able to find out how others are doing and where they are located. We are in Greenwell Springs, LA and the girls are enrolled in St. Louis King of France. Kristina (3rd grade)is doing fine and Hannah (4th grade) is missing SCS very much and is not wanting to attend school here, and stays home with me some days. However, God is good and faithful -our school fared well, we are safe, our home survived with only fence damage, and both my company and my husband's company had office branches here in Baton Rouge. He's at work already and I'm floundering while the BR office finds workspace for displaced employees. We will return as soon as his company and SCS reopens and then I will have to decide what to do. My office was in Canal Place and we've heard there was a fire in the building. The fire, along with my office being in NO, means I might have to commute to BR, split the family for a while and me stay here and them return to Metairie, or quit work altogether and return with them. If anyone is in this area and if there is anything I can do to help, please call me on my cell - 504-952-6545. As telephone lines are sketchy, a quick text message w/a contact no. might be best if you can't get thru. One last thing - the Edwards family (Lindsay - 3rd grade) and the Sharp family (Rae Lynn - 5th grade and Bailey - 3rd grade) were in Houston last I spoke with them. I can get in contact with them if anyone would like. Also, my email is drseruntine@yahoo.com if anyone needs anything. We look forward to returning soon and pray God continues to keep everyone safe during this time.
Dawn Seruntine
Hello,
The Curry's are fine. We are staying with friends in Baton Rouge. Tyler and Carli are on a few waiting list for schools here. Hopefully we'll be back at St. Christopher soon. Our home had only minor wind damage but plenty power lines down on Bauvais. Hope we are all home soon! Allison
Hello everyone, This the prek teacher from EEC(Ms. Kathy) we are in Spring Texas with my aunt who opened her home to my family before the storm, we had l6 members here, now we are down to my sister, her husband, their 3 birds, 3 cats, 3 dogs, my youngest daughter, my husband and myself.... we have good news on our home....some damage little water from freezers and refrig.. same for my sister, however my youngest daughter who bought her place a year ago off Causeway Blvd. the building had 4 ft.water in the lower level, hers was up however the roof is leading, water pouring down the stairs and she is as of now checking where she is going, hopefully to continue with WWLTV or one of their stations....
I am so glad to here from some of ya'll please remember God opened his hands and kept us safe.... I have heard from a few of the teachers from EEC. Miss Susan, Miss Dennise, Miss Elvira, and Miss Rosie.....hope to see ya'll in a few weeks. My husband is trying to find us a place in Lafayette area for him to work with the Corps of Engineers.... love to all........Kathy Usner
Hi everyone. I am glad to here that most of you did not sustain much damage to your home. I unfortunatly did. We were in Texas for a week when my husband went back home and found a lot of damage to my roof. We have a pretty big hole in the roof and most of the schingles are off. Paul did say we had about a foot or two in the house and it looked pretty bad. I decided after that to go to my dads with the three kids in Pittsbough. Paul had to stay behind to salvage what was left of the company he works for. I unfortuatly had to enroll Alexis (7) and Joshua (6) in a public school called H. W. Good. There is not a catholic school here for miles and I can't drive in the snow. It is supposed to be an excellent school, but it's just not the same. My youngest son Brandon(4), is unable to go to school because they do not provide pk programs here. He is tickled pink. I will probably stay here for the remander of the year, because of our house damage. I want nothing more to be home with friends and family. We miss everyone and the kids do too. Good bless everyone and take care.

Hi everyone. We are in Scott, Louisiana, with Alyssa and our German Shepard. We are all well and ready to get home. Alyssa is attending Carencro Catholic and likes it for now because she knows it is only temporary until we can get back home. Seems like Tony may be working for Chevron out of Sugarland, Texas. I work for a criminal attorney out of New Orleans so we are not sure what is going on with that. I hope everyone is well. My parents live in Maple Ridge and had plenty of flooding and still have water in their home. I hope all is well. I look forward to getting back to some normalcy as everyone does. I miss everyone. Take care.

Hi! This is Stephanie Brown-mother of Stanley (2B)and Shawn (1C). We returned home from Nacogdoches,TX on Monday 9/5. Today is 9/9 (I think). We live in River Ridge on Moss Ln. and have all of our utilities. I am currently trying to enroll the boys in either St. Charles Borremeo in Destrehan or Sacred Heart in Norco. This hasn't been an easy task. The three of us cried this morning as I made the phone calls. They want to return to SCS and don't understand why they can't. Any friends that want to contact them can at (504)737-4839, (504)606-1859, or at srbsmb@hotmail.com. Wishing everyone in our St. Christopher family well and a safe trip home.
Hello,
The Rushing family (Bill, Sheila, Christopher, and Shelby) are in Houston, TX with Bill's family. Christopher (senior) has been attending a public high school and has, fortunately, been able to take all his required courses for college next year. We celebrated his 18th birthday in the car last Sunday waiting in line to get back home. However, we feel blessed to be alive and without water in our home. Shelby (6th)is attending a wonderful Catholic school here, St. Clare's. They only have 13 students in the entire 6th grade and that number includes 5 from New Orleans! Even though we are loyal to our city and our schools, we felt the kids needed some type of structure for the time they cannot be at home. The people here have been so incredibly kind and generous to all of us, especially the kids. If anyone would like to contact any of us, please call 281-480-0807.
Hi SCS family and friends!
This is Aileen PEterson, Mother of Abbey (6C), Carly (4A), and 4C HR teacher. WE are all fine and still living in Baton Rouge at the Sheraton Hotel. Like everyone, we miss our SCS family and friends very much. We are holding out to return to schllo at SCS. The girls couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I miss all of my 4th graders and am very eager to see each and everyone of you real soon. Paul works in St. Bernard PArish, so needless to say the damage is extensive, as you know. He has been working almost 24/7 with the St. Bernard Sherrif's office and also to put thier work facility back together. It has been a very trying time for all. We did get some water in our house, but minimal damage compared to some. It will all be fixed in due time. We are extremely thankful to have our family and friends safe and sound. We are anxiously awaiting for the go ahead to return to Metairie. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all. Stay safe, keep the faith, and we will all reunite soon.
Love to all, Aileen Peterson

We just recieved an e-mail from Fr. Ken. He stated that they now have power, telephone, and water. Mass will be held this Sunday at 11:00 am for anyone in Metairie. He said that thehere was no damage to the school and scholl is expected to return on Oct. 3 or sooner. He, Fr. Muller and Fr. Michael are all fine, but he said they all stink like pigs.
Judy Bothman and family are fine and are situated in Chattanooga, Tn. with her son and his wife. The neighbor's tree brushed their house and landed on the driveway. There was also shingle damage on the roof and the fence in the back yard was damaged (this report from a neighbor who returned to his house). Hope we can get back to some semblance of normalcy within a couple of weeks.

This is Mike and Katherine Selph. Our daughter Sarah Beth is in 6B and we are in West Columbia, Texas. (About an hour SW of Houston) We spent the first week of our evacuation in Lafayette with family. On Sunday, we headed here to TX where Mike's company has set up their offices at a resort until they are able to get back to Gretna. Sarah Beth started school at a wonderful public school here on Tuesday and likes it. Although it is not SCS. She is missing all of her friends so much and she is missing cheerleading, getting started with enrichment and even just being in class at SCS.
We have not been able to make it back to check on our home however, we have had some neighbors who have been back and have reported that we had about 1 1/2 foot of water in our home, our fence is destroyed, a whole in our roof and that was just the obvious. Even with the damage that our home has, we are so grateful that we are together and safe, and as far as we know so far, all of our friends are safe as well.
Everyone here has been so kind to us, but like everyone, we are ready to get back home and back to SCS and back close to our friends.
It has been such a treat to have this site to come to and feel connected to our friends and SCS family. Thanks so much Santora family for doing this.
Sarah Beth would love to hear from you and so would I. Feel free to e-mail us at kts4155@aol.com or, since cell phones have become worthless at this time, we can even be reached at a land line number which is 1-800-231-1030 and ask for cottage #24 (or 979-345-5151 and ask for cottage #24)
We hope to see everyone real soon! Take care and God Bless!

I spoke with Mrs. Meche last night. She had great news to share!! SCS has electricity as of yesterday. We are planning to reopen on October 3rd. She hopes to have the school office open in two weeks.
She wanted me to reassure all of you that we have room and will make room for students needing a school to attend. We are welcoming back 8th graders who went on to Mt. Carmel and need to complete their 8th grade year. We will welcome you back with open arms.
If you would please watch this website for information, we will keep you posted as new information arises. Feel free to post your location and contact information.
God bless you.

Message From Fr Ken:
Friends,
No damage to St. Christopher School or Church. Mass this coming Sunday will be at 11:00 AM. The school is opening 3 Oct. and sooner if Jefferson Parish will open. Fr. Muller, Fr. Michael and myself are here at the rectory. We stink like pigs more than usual. The church and school have power as well as the rectory.

The Lyons Family is safe and well in Louisville, KY with family. Reed Lyons (Kinder) is enrolled in St. Patrick's for the time being but can't wait to get back to SCS and see Ms. Gary and all his friends!
Does anyone know if St. Christopher School will hire someone to test the water and for mold before the kids come back?
Hi, this is Mary Dominach my son is Mario in the 3rd grade. We are in Monticello Ark and Mario is attending the local school here. We are planning to come home as soon as the parish opens and hope the school will open up as well as he is missing his friends and school very much.

Hello Everyone, Noel Abadie and I are in Convent, La. with family. Noel started St. Elizabeth's School in Paincourtville, La. today. We are very anxious to be home and back at SCS. Our home is fine. God bless everyone. Beverly Abadie.
MRS. Meche, Hello...This is Yvette Steward, Roxanne's Mom ! We are receiving conflicting info in Baton Rouge.I have a few questions..Our home has major damage in Kenner and we have only been back 1 time.My concern is school of course, and I was told that if I do not enroll Roxanne in school, she will fail for the year because of a 21 day absentee period. Also, the nearest catholic school is full and also very far.I read your latest info and would like to wait it out,but not at Roxanne's expense.Everyone around here goes to a public school But,Iwould rather not ,as I worry that the credits or curriculum will not be the same! Also,do you have any idea what will happen with the tuition loan? We are very happy to hear that our school as well as some of our scs family faired out well with Katrina. This is an experience our family will never forget! Bless us all! Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to your response!
Hello everyone, The Lissarrague family, except for Madison, misses everyone and can't wait to get back. Madison, who just started pre-k can wait to get back and doesn't miss anyone. The whole school thing might take a little while for her. I am a realtor and do have access to the mls from where I am. My husband was talking to another SCS family this morning who said that they were having trouble getting info on something to rent. I know alot of us have had damage to our homes and need a place to stay while rebuilding. I am willing to do my best to let you know what is available on the mls to rent or for sale. Most contracts can be done by fax. I also own a few rental properties in Jefferson and Metairie that seemed to have done ok in the storm. My husband plans on going back on Wednesday to check on any damage and get them up and running. You can email me or call my hotel toll free and I will help best I can. Hope to see you all soon.

Hello! This is Denise and Archie Whelan - parents of Archie, jr(3rd)and Jake(K). We left home on Saturday for Pike County, Miss. and again on Sunday for Ark. We arrived in Forest City, Ark. because of a hotel reservation. Thank God for this town. Although what was going on at home was horrible,, this town is like heavan on earth. They have taken care of their 2000 evacuees like you would not believe. Food, water, toiletries, diapers, toys, clothing , breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, housing, we have been adopted by a family of 6. There are 10 of us and 3 dogs and these people have welcomed us into their homes like we were family. We have met alot of people who have changed our lives.
The boys say hello and we hope everyone is safe and well.

Kayleigh misses her friends and most of all St. Christopher. I enrolled her in a school here in Jennings and she does not like it. It breaks my heart that our children have to go through this. Hey everyone! It's Lisa and Calah Caballero (6C). Our family is in Houston, TX, because my husband works for Shell Oil Co. and they were able to set him up here. On top of that, My son,Ethan, is a Jesuit student, and Jesuit-NOLA has been relocated here at Strake Jesuit because almost 500 Jesuit boys are relocated here. The boys are being taught by the New Orleans faculty and Father McGinn is also here. The only drag is that they go to school from 3:00-9:00 in the evening. Calah is enrolled at St. Cecilia Catholic School. I am trying to decide if it would be better to homeschool her because I may have to be here until December because Jesuit will be here until then. If I teach her, I can continue with her SCS books instead of the different books she has at this school. Being a teacher myself, it would be very easy to keep her on track. She is begging me to do so. She really misses SCS and doesn't like going to another school. We are in such a dilemma. Yet, in all this turmoil, we were blessed to have no damage or flooding to our home in River Ridge.
Hi everyone, this is Carly Peterson and my cousin, Meredyth Berard. We are still in Baton Rouge and wanted to tell our friends we miss them. Hope to see you back at SCS real soon. Hello everyone....
This is Shannon Cole and Bruce Cole. Parents of Lacey Cole (8A). We have been in Houston, Texas. We have heard conflicting reports of water in our house on W. Napoleon? I have not enrolled Lacey in school as of yet. We just went to San Antonio for a couple of days. My parents stayed in New Orleans and were missing for the first five days. I was a wreck trying to find them. They were in the Superdome - awful experience for them. They are safe now at a cousin's house in San Antonio. They have lost everything but thank God they are alive.
The rest we are taking hour by hour. We can be reached at cell phone # 281-755-4299 or email Lacey at razzleberry121@hotmail.com or email Shannon at shenanigan@cox.net
I am keeping everyone in my prayers! A wonderful church here in Houston has provided an apartment for us for 60 days.

Hello to Everyone from St. Christopher. It is so comforting to be able to keep in touch with so
many from SCS. We are staying in Ponchatoula for the time being. Our home had 10" of water. We were
able to go home for a couple of days and clean up as best as we could. The kids are not enrolled in school as we are waiting to return to St.Christopher when all is ok. I know Kelly and Corey miss talking to their friends so if you would like to email them at barberito@cox.net we would love to here from you.
Hope to see all of you soon when we get back to SCS.
Jackie & Mike Barberito
Hi everyone!
It's Emilie and Catherine Ursin's (2B & 2C) mom. We are safe at home in Destrehan. We spent almost two weeks at my brother's house and the surrounding area of Houston. Luckily, we were able to return home as soon as the power was restored. I am home schooling the girls for the time being and they can't wait to get back to SCS. I am so glad that the school didn't sustain any damage during the storm and all of us look forward to Oct. 3rd!

Hi Everyone....
It goes without saying that a lot of things are going to be different when we get back to our "normal lives". Hopefully, we will still be producing a yearbook this year....maybe on a smaller scale. One of our Yearbook Editors, Molly Hoffpauir, had an excellent idea. If you have a camera with you in your "temporary surroundings", take pictures of your temp. house and/or school. We especially would love pictures of SCS kids at their temp. schools. I imagine we will be devoting quite a bit of coverage in this year's book to Katrina and the changes we have all experienced.
Thanks and we'll ask for them when we get back in the Yearbook swing at SCS.
God bless.
Ms. Reese

Has any one heard from Shelia Nicholson?
Hi,
This is Beverly Dorvin (1C). I think that Sheila Nicholson is in Houston, TX now. She is safe and sound! She was in Ponchatoula with some family members. I know this because I am substitute teaching at St. Joseph in Ponchatoula and her niece and nephew are displaced 5th graders from St. Bernard parish. They are in my 5th grade class. They spoke to her on the phone the night before last.
HI MY NAME IS SHELBY RUSHING I AM IN 6TH GRADE. I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO SOME OF MY FRIENDS . IF ANYONE WANTS TO TALK TO ME CALL ME AT 281-480-0807. I MISS MY FRIENDS. I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO YOU SOO CALL ME
Hello Everyone,
For anyone who saw the news showing Gabby Lester missing. She is not missing. She is fine and with her grandparents. As I'm typing, she is swimming with her new friend from her new school. Her and Shelby have been talking everyday over the computer.
Hey everyone! This is Jenna Timphony and were in N.J. I'm here with my mom's side of the famliy while my brother Ryan is with my dad at home.
Our house has over a ft. of water in it and our roof is still attached, but all the shingles are off. The upstairs windows blew open and the carpet is distroyed. We now have power so we will be returning the house Sunday the 18th.
Hobnobber Cafe' is alright. My mom and dad are hoping to reopen soon.
Everyone here in N.J. have been so nice. By donating clothes, shoes, toiletries, blankets, etc.
I can't wait to return to school and see everyone.
See You Soon,
Jenna Timphony
Welcome home St. Christopher families. Hopefully each of you survived Katrina without too much damage. School will resume for SCS students on Monday, September 26, 2005.
Any former SCS student who has been displaced should contact the office at (504) 837-6871. The office will be open this Monday, September 19, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. New students seeking to register should also call the school office beginning on Monday the 19th.
Once we have assessed how many of our former students will be returning to us, then we will be able to register you for school.
Many Blessings,
Ruth Meche
Shelby Rushing will be back at SCS on Monday, September 26th.
Due to unemployment, many parents are not able to return to the city.
As a suggesion: If the parents who know for sure they will NOT be sending their children back to SCS could put a note here, then the school could get some idea how many displaced children they can help without having to wait until Sept. 26th.
Hello everyone! The Dufrene's say hello and are all okay. We had some roof damage and had to pull up carpet, but we did not flood on the westbank. But it all can be fixed. THank goodness. We started off on the Sunday before the storm and went to El Dorado, Arkansas for three days and then left to go to Allen's aunt's house in Raceland, LA. We stayed there in our camper for about a week and then left to go and again stay in our camper to Allen's other aunt/uncle's house in Westwego and have been there since. I can't begin to tell you how much fun we have been having on our extended vacation. I can't wait for school to start and neither can Jason (7A). We are all bored to tears. I never thought that I would ever say that about work and Jason about school. But enough is enough. We went to church this morning and it felt like a big family reunion. It was great. It will be even greater where the rest of the St. Christopher family is together once again. Very soon I hope. It was so great to finally be able to get onto a computer on Friday and read all of everyone's adventures and to know that most everyone fared pretty well.
Hang in there and please try and remember that everyday is getting better. Good luck and God bless everyone.
Love Melanie, Allen & Jason Dufrene (9/18)

We were in Metairie today and spoke to Ms. Meche, Millie and Mary regarding the upcoming return to school and we have some updated information to share with you.
As previously noted, SCS will open this Monday, September 26, 2005. However, if your child was enrolled in SCS prior to Hurricane Katrina and you will not be able to attend school on this date, please call the office and let them know what date your child will return to school. The office telephone number is (504) 837-6871.
If your child is enrolling into SCS as a “displaced student” they may wear their uniform from their prior school. The school would like to encourage anyone who has an extra uniform to bring it to the school for our new students. We have a few uniforms left over from the used uniform sale and we hope that we can come up with many more uniforms to help out our new students.
Finally, until further notice, there will be NO cafeteria service. Each student must bring his or her own lunch to school each day, including a non-carbonated beverage.
WHAT ABOUT TUITION... DO WE CONTINUE TO PAY OR NOT? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA

Hi, This is Melissa Winingham, mom of Megan PK4. My company has relocated our project to Northern Virgina, just outside of DC, for about 6-9 months. My husband and Megan are in VA with me, Megan has started Pre-K at Lake Ann Elementary. We hope to be back over the summer (or sooner). We are enjoying the great weather here and taking in the sights!
Tiffanie (11th grade Chapelle) started back at Chapelle today, she is staying with her aunt in Metairie. George Jr. is at home roughing it with no fridge, moldy ceilings and my credit card!
To all of my Girl Scout Leaders, I have not yet been in touch with Pat Tracey. Please check in at the Girl Scout website: www.girlscoutssela.org.
I am glad to hear that so many of you are safe and sound.
Stay in touch,
mwiningham1@cox.net.

If anyone has a rental or knows of anyone that might, please e-mail me or call me at home 504-832-0815 or on my cell # 504-453.3715. I would appreciate any assistance.
Peggy Bodine
I hope everyone's lives are getting back to some normalcy.
